Bringing Authentic Texas BBQ to Bray
Smokey Monkey BBQ was born from a love of authentic Texas barbecue and the joy of sharing great food experiences. Our mission is to bring slow-cooked, flavour-packed meats and handcrafted sauces to Bray-on-Thames, honouring traditional methods and a vintage vibe that connects every plate to a story of quality and care.
We believe that quality of the ingredients makes the best flavour experience and that's why we focus on local produce where we can, sourcing our proteins, seasonal vegetables & fruit direct from farmers and growers. Animal welfare is a priority so we carefully source meat from higher welfare British farmers.
Clare Adams has been cooking BBQ for more years than she cares to remember. Always keen to learn new recipes and try new dishes, she's eaten her way around the world collecting ideas like a culinary magpie.
Mains:
Slow cooked Brisket - flat (leaner) or point (fattier and juicier packed with flavour) coated in the traditional Texas rub to give it a dark, crunchy bark.
Pulled Pork - select Boston Butts (shoulder) prepared with delicious rub blends to impart layers of flavour during the cooking, finished with a sticky glaze and a big stack of napkins.
Ribs - Spare/belly ribs, baby back ribs. Beef short ribs/Jacob's ladder, Dino ribs/plate ribs slow cooked for a tender, melt in the mouth flavour bomb. Again, you'll need plenty of napkins for these!
Chicken - so versatile with marinades, glazes and rubs or just plain flame grilled for that traditional charcoal aroma.
Lamb - flame grilled chops or slow cooked cuts with garlic and herbs, Greek style or the traditional British way.
Sides:
Mac & Cheese, creamy, decadent and rich with a blend of English cheeses.
Slaw - fresh and crunchy with bags of veggie flavour.
Potato Salad - deliciously creamy English potatoes luxuriating in mayo, salad onions and fresh herbs.
Pit or Cowboy Beans - a hearty and smokey blend of beans, rich sauce and layers of flavour.
Sauces:
We have an arsenal of power packed sauces designed to enhance and compliment your food. Many sauces are from traditional recipes from the U.S like Alabama sauce which is amazing with chicken, Fig and Ancho sauce from California, with was heaven made for brisket.
